One by one, Gerda Nilsson has watched her family and friends find love and get married. She longs for a husband to love and children of her own to cuddle. When Frank Daggett comes to town, Gerda feels an instant connection to the handsome man. But events happen that lead Gerda to believe Frank is not the man for her. After all, he doesn’t even believe in God.
Frank Daggett came to Litchfield, Minnesota, hoping to find a gang of criminals he’d been chasing for months. Instead, he found the lovely Gerda Nilsson. From the start, Frank knows she’s the woman for him—he just has to convince Gerda. He tries everything from dropping by her dress emporium unexpectedly to bringing her flowers, but nothing seems to sway her.
Gerda is sorely tempted to respond to Frank, but she knows it’s wrong for a believer to marry an unbeliever. Is her faith strong enough to let go of the man she loves and trust God for her future, even if it means being alone?
GERDA’S LAWMAN is a continuation of Lena Nelson Dooley’s Litchfield, Minnesota series. I truly enjoyed this book. Frank is a great character. At first he seems hardnosed and focused only on capturing the gang he’s after, but once he sets his eyes on Gerda, he focuses all his determination and charm to winning her over. Deep down, he’s a good man who just needs a good woman to smooth out his rough edges. Gerda is spunky and just as determined to not be swayed in her convictions, in spite of what her heart feels. I admire her fortitude in standing by her faith when the price was so high.
Readers are sure to feel as if they’re back in the nineteenth century as the scenes Ms. Dooley vividly paints come to life. They’ll be inspired with the sweet faith message as they watch Frank’s interest in God grow. Even your sense of adventure will be piqued with the outlaws and exciting events that happen. GERDA’S LAWMAN is an inspiring story about family, friends, and waiting for the one true love God has for you.

Review by: Carolyn R. Scheidies
Surrounded by content couples, Gerda wants nothing more than a loving
Christian husband and a family of her own, so how-in-the world can she be
drawn to the ex-lawman on the trail of a swindler and his twin daughters?
How can she get Frank out of her mind–and heart?
What happens when Frank discovers the truth of his long vigil, especially
when he keeps getting side-tracked by a vision of loveliness named Gerda. As
he put it, “that girl had strings dangling off her so long they would really
hog-tie a man.” And he didn’t want to be tied down--or did he?
Once more, readers find themselves immersed in the goings on of the
Minnesota town of Litchfield. Once more, the characters wrap themselves
around the reader like a snuggly blanket as Dooley delivers another
memorable sweet romance.

Readers' Comments:
You really know how to paint a picture. And the strings hanging off Gerda, oh, I laughed. Poor, poor Lawman. S.L.
